Best Game I Played 2022

This is not really a GOTY list, because it’s not about the best game released in 2022. It is a list of the best games I played in 2022. Many games that I play are a few years old, because I pick them up on a sale when they become inexpensive.

I usually pick three games. This year I played 18 games so the top three represents the best of the best.

Third best game I played in 2022: Disco Elysium

This game is old school and it takes me back to the old Police Quest games where you read lots of text and try to solve the murder. It’s great in its world building, its unique aesthetic and the music. It has a very dark humor and I loved every part of it, except maybe the ending.

This is a game that I think about even long after I played it, and I’m sure that I will come back to it soon, just to hear that karaoke scene, which was a very memorable moment.

Second best game I played in 2022: Horizon Forbidden West

I didn’t really feel it. I was coming down from playing 120 hours of Elden Ring and starting up a new 100 hour open world RPG? Guess what I did, I platinumed it.

The story telling and the characters wins me over. It is so hard not to fall in love with Aloy and wanting to follow her around on all of her adventures. I really hope they will release a DLC in 2023 because I’m dying for more Horizon.

Best game I played in 2022: Cuphead

How can a game that is so brutally hard be so addictive? This is one of those games that feels like a marathon. You try and try and try and at last you throw down your controller – YOU DID IT! And after the credits roll you pick up the controller again, a second round? Yes!

I will never stop playing Cuphead. It is forever installed on my Nintendo Switch, and that is why it deserved to be my game of the year 2022.
