The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I jumped onboard the hype train when CD Project Red released the next-gen update for The Witcher 3 and replayed it all over Christmas. I quite recently played The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch and it didn’t perform very well on handheld, so I was excited to replay it on PlayStation 5 with the next-gen update. I didn’t just replay the game. I played almost everything of it, every side quest and Witcher contract there was to be found.

This is a good game.

Considering this is a game that was first released in 2015 it plays very well. The story is great, the characters are great and the world is splendid. I like that it is so full of creatures, characters and things to do. Actually it is so packed with stuff that it is hard to get from point A to B without interacting with several side quests along the way.

The next-gen update does a good job of making this 8 year old game more accessible to new players.

The next-gen update is good. You can see that it is a 8 year old game, but it looks crisp and it behaves very well. I chose to play it in performance mode with 60 FPS and skipped the raytracing option. I’m sure I wouldn’t have noticed any difference anyway.

My only complaint is that the game crashed for me a couple of times when I’ve had it running for too long. I had maybe 4-5 crashes over a period of 100+ hours, so it was not too bad and I didn’t loose any progress in any of the crashes. It was like the game crashed after it saved my progress because I always got right back to where I was. Just a minor annoyance.

All in all, I love this game. I hope they’ll make another Witcher game in a near future.

I rate this game as GREAT.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
