Unpacking

Unpacking is a cute little game where you unpack boxes because you’re moving in to a new place. We get to follow an unknown protagonist by unpacking their stuff as they move from place to place. The first unpacking is titled “My first very own room” and from there on you can read different episodes of the life of the unknown protagonist by the things you unpack. It is a really neat way to tell a story.

The game is cute. I love the aesthetics and the pixel graphics. I wonder now if it is pixels or voxels, but come to think of it, it looks more like pixels. The music is repetitive but also kind of cute. I like discovering things about the person we unpack for, as the game goes along.

It may require a special kind of personality to find this situation fun.

Sometimes it is hard to see what it is you’ve unpacked. Here is a box with some squiggles on .. what can that be? Once you know it will be easier to put it in its right place.

There is a puzzle part where the game will not let you continue until you’ve put certain things into places where they should be. I turned that off quite quickly in the options as I didn’t think it fit the game. The game is quite repetitive but its not very long. I enjoyed the conclusion in the end.

I rate this game as GOOD.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
