Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered

Disclaimer: I’ve only spent about 2 hours with this game. I’m not a racing buff but I do enjoy a good racing game.

I thought this would be a remake of the Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit (1998). I played that game like crazy and loved finding new ways of evading the police. It was a ton of fun.

This is titled “remaster”, but it is nothing like that old game. I guess it’s a remaster of some other Hot Pursuit game.

Most of the missions is just about driving at top speed at very straight roads. The car gets very hard to control, and if you slow down you fail the mission. It’s not very fun.

First of all I find the cars very hard to control. The steering is so sensitive and I find myself loosing control of the car over and over. It feels like it would suit better to be played with a wheel controller than a DualSense. This is what ruins the experience for me. I don’t want to play because when I fail it doesn’t feel like my fault.

Only one hour in and the game starts setting unreasonable goals. I must race perfectly just to achieve a bronze medal. I must be playing the wrong way or you cannot get a higher medal until you’ve unlocked better cars.

The last thing that ruins this game for me is that there is no cop action. During my play time I had 1 mission where I was chased by cops and 1 mission where I played as the cop. The other 20 races were standard racing game. I was expecting to play a Hot Pursuit game. This does not meet my expectations.

I rate this game as BAD.

Rating: 1 out of 5.
