Last Stop

Last Stop is a walking simulator which puts you in the shoes of three main story lines that converges by the end. You get to play as Meena, the intelligence officer, John the public office employee and Donna a high school student. They all have their run-in with the super natural and as the story progress, the plot thickens and maybe we’ll get some clarity by the end.

I would consider this a walking simulator, though you have dialogue options and there are a few mini-games as well. The music rhythm mini-game seems to creep itself into every story driven experience nowadays. You walk from scene to scene and at times you get to make choices, but mostly you experience the story in a movie-like manner.

The dialogue options are a fun part of this walking simulator but sometimes it feels like the choice you do doesn’t matter and you’ll get the same response from the one you’re conversing with anyway.

I did enjoy the start of the game which felt very intriguing and the dialoge was quite fun and well written. It felt fresh coming from a game like Hogwarts Legacy where the writing was boring and sometimes really bad. However the story lose pace in the middle chapters only to get up to speed again in the last chapter.

The chapter selection screen is a fun depiction of our protagonists riding the London subway.

I didn’t really like the gameplay. Controlling the characters were sometimes jerky as you go from one scene to the next. It is very unclear where to go in each scene so you fumble your way through the game. The dialogue options were a fun twist but they didn’t really seem to have any impact on the story, and it felt like several options would have the same exact response from the character you were talking to.

The game was a bit too long but had a satisfying ending.

I rate this game as OKAY.

Rating: 2 out of 5.
