It was time to return to Aloy. This DLC opens up a new part of the map, with new quests, characters, machines and boss fights. It’s a great addition to the base game and it fulfills all my expectations.
My first impression is that I remember how great this game looks and how much I love Aloy. Next I fall off my mount and nearly die because I’ve forgotten how to play this game. The controls are quite complicated and you gradually learn them during the base 25 hour game and now you need to recall them in 5 minutes. I think DLCs should have some optional recap tutorial for those of us that haven’t played this game for a year.
This DLC matched my expectations which is a large feat as my expectations were quite high, but it doesn’t contribute a lot to the base game. It’s a bit more of everything, but it doesn’t reveal any unknown lore, or build the story/world in an unexpected way. It’s just more of the base game which is not bad, because the base game is great.
I rate this game as GREAT.
