Horizon Forbidden West

Aloy is a superhero. There is no doubt about it. After the events of Horizon Zero Dawn her confidence in herself is rock solid, as she tells the people she meets early in the game “only I can save the world”.

The events of the previous game didn’t solve the problems and now Earth’s biosphere is self destructing. Aloy travels into the forbidden west to find the cause and a solution. Along the way she meets new tribes, form new bonds and saves the day for just about everyone she meets.

Aloy is back and more bad ass than ever.

I love the way that Aloy is down to earth, almost acting like she’s the player and not the protagonist. Everyone around her being filled with what is going on “oh, my god were going to drown!” she is just playing it cool “ok, what do you need me to do this time?”. I love that, and how she can be utterly sarcastic without people around her catching it.

This is everything that the first game was, but better. The machines are incredible and it never stops being fun to tear them apart. Fighting the humans are less fun, but I see the need for that too.

The environments range from desert to snowy landscapes, rocky hills to a jungle swamp. Every vista is breathtaking on the PS5.

I rarely play a game after I’ve beaten it, but this time I didn’t feel like I was done. I continued playing after I beat the last boss and had just as fun doing everything for the platinum trophy.

I rate this game as EXCELLENT.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
